Credit Card Crash Kit

 

 

  1. Please make sure your store has a crash kit (manual credit card swiper and also blank slips.  If you do not have one please email me and I will order you one.  Make sure you have this kit in a place to where it can be located, and always use if you have internet or computer issues.
  2. When using this CC swiper, please make sure credit card is in slot, place the blank slip over the credit card on the machine and slide the bar forward and then backward to get a good impression of the credit card information.
  3. Look at all copies to make sure all information is legible. Get a signature from the guest
  4. Make sure that you look at the DL # of guest to make sure this card belongs to the guest. Look at the signature on CC slip and compare to their DL. This should be done all the time.
  5. Some credit cards numbers are not raised, so you will not be able get imprints on these cards. They will have to be manually written, make sure to press hard to make sure the numbers are legible.  Write the person’s name above the slip.
  6. Even after doing all this if the card has a chip, it could be disputed and we would lose if disputed.
  7. Only way to guarantee payment on any credit card is to get an approval from the CC Company and write the auth. code on the slip.  I know if you are busy it would be impossible to do this.  On big charges it might not be a bad idea.  This does not apply to cards with chips, because they would need to be ran through the chip reader in order to be guaranteed payment.
  8.  When your Verifone terminal or computer is down, you should use the phone numbers bfor credit card authorization.* Visa/MasterCard 1-800-991-9911 * American Express 1-800-528-5200 * Discover 1-800- 347-1111.
